OVERVIEW

Day 1 - Elephant Camp - Zambesi Gorge (midday arrival)

Today, after the traditional welcome and orientation at Elephant Camp and a light refreshment, we mount our sturdy MTB's for an introductory short bush-cycle out to the neighboring village where we are hosted by the local community for a cultural encounter. We see rural Zimbabwean life first hand and are treated to a superb traditional tasting platter. After our village tour, we embark on arguably the highlight of the day, a slow, careful game cycle through the reserve, with elephant and cheetah encounters to wow even the most sceptical traveler.

Our five-star tented camp accommodations, the award-winning Elephant Camp, is situated within, and bounded by the Masuwe River and the Zambezi gorges overlooking Victoria Falls, and the early evening before dinner is spent enjoying every amenity and luxury, with or without a sundowner - the choice is yours!

Day 2 - Private Game Walk - Fauna & Flora of Victoria Falls

This morning we rise once again early, and continue our education of the African bush and her inhabitants. Our local field guide is a specialist in fauna and flora and our walk arguably the most informative of the tour. We return to the camp for a superb lunch - and this time no holding back as the rest of the afternoon is free to enjoy your luxurious tents, private pools or the many communal areas around the camp. Don't forget the spa treatment and massage! For those who feel more active, we offer a sunset canoeing or sunset cruise at 5pm, before returning to camp for a sumptuous, gourmet dinner in the boma.

Day 3 - Elephant Camp to Victoria Falls

This morning we rise early for a final cycle along the rim of the Masuwe River Gorge before returning for a hearty breakfast, and to say our goodbyes to the staff at Elephant Camp, whom we'll remember for their friendship and special service. Leaving camp, we head straight for the helipad where we'll be airlifted for a spectacular 20 min helicopter flight over the Victoria Falls and gorge. We touch down just on the edge of the Batoka Gorge where your Trip Leaders with bikes awaits your arrival. From here it's a magnificent ride up to The Lookout Café, perched 120m above the turbulent rapids of the Zambezi River, our lunch stop! With our bellies filled and our cameras loaded, we hop back onto our trusty bikes for a short cycle to our the iconic Victoria Falls Hotel, our accommodations for the next two nights.

Day 4 - Victoria Falls Up Close

This morning after a superb breakfast choice on the colonial veranda overlooking the falls, we start the day with a cycle via Zambezi Drive along the mighty river with the same name, keeping an eye out for impala, warthog, monkeys, baboons, an abundance of birdlife and even the mighty elephant!

We continue onto the Big Tree, a massive and ancient Baobab which is over a thousand years old. From here on to the leafy, tree-lined suburbs and then into Chinotimba Township, where we get a sense of local customs and culture. We wander through the bustling market as your guide points out the different fruit and vegetables, and we visit a local church, clinic and school, seeing a side of Victoria Falls that is not on most tourist itinerary.

On the return leg, we stop at the Victoria Falls Rainforest Park for the highlight of the day, a guided walk up close and personal with the Mosi Oa Tunya - or "The Smoke Which Thunders" as the falls is known locally.  Appreciate the transcendental beauty of the Falls, and marvel at the rainbow that stretches across the foaming torrent of water - the perfect place to capture the moment on camera! After the walk we cycle up onto the Victoria Falls bridge before returning to the hotel along the private pathway.

The afternoon is free to enjoy the hotel amenities, restaurants or pool.

Day 5 - Midday departure

Our final morning includes a short shuttle by car to Livingstone on the Zambia side. No visit to Africa is complete without an opportunity to shop for curios and the handicraft in Victoria Falls must be some of the best handcrafted specimens anywhere. Sadly our tour must end. For those who need a transfer to the airport, we arrange a shuttle leaving the hotel by 12noon. With your shopping bags filled, and memories to serve a lifetime, we say good bye! Until next time...
