OVERVIEW

Day 1 - Windhoek & Katutura Community Experience

Day one in Windhoek is time to relax and get familiar with your bike, the trip leaders and this quaint capital city. Stately buildings range from the home of Namibia’s parliament, to the newly founded Hero’s Acre. Explore the local community of Katutura, visit the museums, or discover German-inspired coffee shops.

Day 2 - Gamsberg and Rooisand

Leaving Windhoek it is a short transfer to the Khomas Hochland at the top of the Kupferberg pass for the start of today’s cycling. We transfer to the top of Gamsberg pass, rolling by the third highest mountain in Namibia with views stretching for hundreds of kilometers over the horizon, giving us a first glimpse of the desert scenery that will be our companion for the next seven days. We cycle past Hartman’s Mountain Zebra and eventually set up camp at the oasis of Rooisand for our first night under the Namib stars.

Day 3 - Solitaire & The Namib Naukluft Park

Today's cycle from Rooisand takes us close to Guab pass and on to a famous lunch stop at Solitaire before continuing to Sesriem area and the iconic Sossusvlei. Tonight we have dinner under the stars near, lights out early in preparation for tomorrow's sunrise activities.

Day 4 - Dune 45 & Sossusvlei

Climb up Dune 45 for a superb view of the Tsaucab River Canyon while breakfast is being set up at the bottom of the dune. After breakfast we undertake a short 25km bike ride between the dunes and then go for a two-hour walk at Hiddenvlei or Deadvlei. We stop for lunch at Sesriem camp, before exploring Sesriem Canyon by foot. A short transfer bring us to the guest farm at Solitaire where the luxury of a cool swimming pool or a hot shower awaits. Don't miss the cheetah interaction before dinner - one of Africa’s most splendid animals.

Day 5 - Naukluft & Ganab Plains

After a restful night at Solitaire and the prerequisite farm breakfast, we head for the remote Gaub and Kuiseb Pass, home to ostrich, springbok and gemsbok. Today’s cycle via the Ganab Plains and Bloedkoppe takes us into the wilds of the Namib Naukluft Park and tonight’s camping in the Namib Park ends a truly spectacular day in one of nature’s oldest desert areas.

Day 6 - Swakopmund via Valley Of The Moon

After another memorable breakfast we get back on our bikes for what will be our last morning in the Naukluft Park. We transfer to the West Coast town of Swakopmund, but not before passing through the famous Goanikontes (Valley of the Moon) and a close encounter with the largest and oldest plant, Welwitschia Mirabilis, practically a living fossil at 1,500 years.

Day 7 - Swakopmund @ Leisure

Today we offer a number of optional activities depending on your preference: quad biking, sand boarding, sky diving or the Dolphin Cruise.  If you do not feel adventurous there is shopping, the Crystal Gallery, museums or the aquarium. Or join us for a bit more cycling along the salt roads.

Day 8 - Swakopmund To Spitzkoppe

We depart Swakopmund after an early breakfast and drive through an amazing moon-like landscape and view the world’s oldest plant: the 1,500 year old Welwitchia Mirabilis . Our tour approaches one of its highlights: The Spitzkoppe (from German for “pointed dome”; also referred to as Spitzkop, Groot Spitzkop, or the “Matterhorn of Namibia”), is a group of bald granite peaks or bornhardts located between Usakos and Swakopmund. The granite formation is more than 700 million years old and the highest outcrop rises about 1,784 meters (5,853 ft) above sea level.  We camp in this beautiful landscape and enjoy another night of star gazing.

Day 9 - Spitzkoppe To Windhoek

As always, the tour does have to end! After breakfast we offer optional cycling around the Spitzkoppe. At 10am we leave for Windhoek where our amazing cycling trip ends and we have to say goodbye.
